This really cuts through the noise around productivity hacks. The distinction between concentration and what you do with that concentration is something I've struggled to articulate before. The phonics puzzle example is particularly brutal because it shows how well-intentioned task design can completly backfire. I've noticed that working memory overload is the main thing that prevents deep processing for me, so breaking down complex material without loosing the interconnections becomes the tightrope walk.
